Allow me to introduce myself

Hello Dear Reader,
My name is Deb Vande Voort. Although I have lived parts of my life in Northern Indiana and Lower Michigan, most of my childhood memories are from Northeastern Wisconsin, a place I have loved since we first stepped foot off the ferry.
I am now the mother of a grown man, Michael, who has been my biggest adventure and one of my best friends. I am also happily married to Devon, a man whose willingness to support my crazy endeavors and to carry my books is appreciated more than he knows.
Most of my life has been used to figure out what I wanted to be when I grew up. I’ve gone to school for a few things – vocational rehabilitation, business administration, electrolysis, and even psychology. While I enjoyed what I was learning very much, each field left me feeling like there was still something missing. Not willing to continue down an expensive path I knew I wouldn’t stick to, I hold no degrees. I have, however, had a few careers, which at least paid me to explore them. This has included health insurance, mortgages, and a house cleaning business. As I am currently working to establish my writing career, I work part time at a physical therapy clinic while juggling other life responsibilities.
Apparently, this kind of career trajectory is quite common among writers who start later in life. The wonderful thing about writing, is the more experience you have, the better your writing becomes. I still have much to experience, and I hope this helps me to continue to grow with each new work.
It is still early in my career, as I am currently writing my first novel after publishing my debut book of short stories. If you would like to come along on my journey, please consider joining my readers list. I send out updates and events, along with an occasional blog post – the fun stuff.
I’d love to meet you in person. If there’s an event happening near you and you get the chance, please stop in and introduce yourself. Even if you’ve already read and reviewed my book(s), the connection means so much. Who knows? You might even inspire the next main character!
Your friend in print,
Deb
